Job Summary:
A Lead Interior Designer will work independently and collaboratively with a diverse team. She or he should be focused while staying highly creative in a wide variety of situations—someone with proven ability to move forward under pressure, to work independently but ask for guidance when needed and be excited to share knowledge with others. You should be comfortable with not knowing and be driven to find answers. To thrive here, you must be passionate about design, be curious and love the process of problem solving and improvement.
In collaboration with the Studio Director and Founder, you will drive the design of multiple projects, varying in type, complexity, and duration. You will prepare plans and drawings, design presentations, renderings, material selections, and specifications. You also have the opportunity to collaborate in the office in order to push your projects both creatively and technically through the experience of the whole team. In addition to managing your own project and team, you will be the day-to-day contact for clients.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Project Responsibilities:
• Day-to-day contact for the client and consultants – maintaining positive and collaborative communication while keeping the team up to date on schedule and decisions
• Design and production of project needs including; selecting finishes, space planning, furniture selections, written specifications, drawing documentation
• Conduct construction site visits to review for conformance to I.D. documents and design intent
• Review of design and documents with the Studio Director for conformance with studio standards
• Maintain a professional demeanor, timely work habits and dedication to honing design and technical skills through continued education
• Day-to-day resource for staff on project procedures, consultant coordination, quality standards and technical detailing
• Milestone project reviews for adherence to technical and quality standards
• Responsible for management and completion of project deadlines and deliverables
• Participate in project design charrettes and reviews to help maintain and propel design quality and standards
• Management of design team members including determining appropriate daily tasks, redlining documents and reviewing final product
• Develop project schedule coordinated with proposal requirements and project team
• Conduct FFE installs and direct staff on sites
• Mentorship of less experienced staff
Culture Responsibilities:
• Be a brand ambassador
• Attend industry events in representation of the company
• Attend market segment-oriented conferences and continuing education seminars
• Maintain a positive attitude that exudes spark
Business Responsibilities:• Contribute to improving office presentation, drawing and specification standards
• Research / vet vendor relationships related to market segment
• Maintain project Health & FFE Health
• Maintain positive existing relationships with clients
• Cultivate new relationships with leads and potential new clients
Required Skills and Experience:
• 8+ Years Experience
• Four-year degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture
• NCIDQ certified or on the path to certification preferred
• Experience in Senior Living, Hospitality and Multi-Family markets
• Proficiency in using AutoCAD, REVIT, Photoshop and Microsoft Suite programs
• Proven experience in all phases of interior design projects
• Highly creative and can lead the narrative for design on a project
• Willingness to learn new software platforms
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
• Able to travel as needed
