It’s hard to believe this December marks the 5th anniversary of Banko Design. We started Banko Design to provide boutique interior aesthetics for senior living, multifamily, hospitality and healthcare clients. Most importantly, we’ve worked to improve people’s lives through design.
Today, we’re celebrating five years by tracing back some of our highlights from the last few years and giving you a sneak peek of what’s to come.
Humble Brags From Humble Beginnings
We started Banko Design five years ago to pursue our dream of designing in the senior living and multifamily markets from a boutique studio perspective. After working for some of the big design firms in Atlanta, we began to feel frustrated that we didn’t get to know our clients as people or give them the best advice. We didn’t want to feed them a water-downed company line. We wanted to provide people with our real opinion.
And it was frustrating to be held in the parameters of the big design companies. We wanted our design firm to be different and reflect the uniqueness of our clients. When we looked around at firms doing resimercial design, we saw a lot of cookie-cutter designs and not a whole lot of the originality that the market was craving.
But we knew that nothing would change until one of us stepped up to the plate and swung for the fences. If we wanted the freedom to work smarter and not longer, then we would have to make the change for ourselves. So we opened Banko Design on a shoestring budget and not much else other than the powerful dream to improve people’s lives with good design.
Since opening Banko Design, we’ve been truly amazed to see this dream manifest. In the last five years, we’ve grown from two employees into a 21 person operation with two warehouses providing full streamlined FF&E service. We’ve made a significant mark in the purchasing and procurement world. And we’re disrupting the way people think about senior living and interior design. That’s not to mention how we’re taking on new client partners all the time with steady revenue growth every year.
The success of Banko Design is proof that when listen to your clients and think outside of the box, you can create game-changing interiors unlike any others on the market.
Staying True To Our Boutique Sophistication
Our diverse client portfolio includes nationally-recognized and respected development groups. One of the highest compliments we receive is when people tell us, “I saw that and instantly knew it was a Banko project.” People are impressed with us. And why wouldn’t they be? We’ve earned this reputation through exceptional work, a high level of detail and innovative design.
The truth is that Banko Design is booming! In the last five years, we’ve tripled the size of our Marietta, GA studio and doubled our warehouse capacity. And year after year, we’ve increased our design services revenue with steady growth in procurement. We’ve grown into a company with projects in 11 states and in the next five years, we anticipate moving from being a Southeastern company to dominating National markets.
These wins have enabled us to invest in philanthropic endeavors. We’ve spent time and money to help with Autism and Alzheimers, two causes that are especially close to our hearts. We’ve put our money where our mouth is and give our time, money, and sweat equity to helping these important causes.
Without our clients, none of this would be possible. Since day one, our clients have supported us and trusted our intuition. We have benefited from each other’s success. While we’re growing at a steady rate, we will never lose our boutique sensibility.
And Talk About Some Serious Squad Goals
Being able to provide thoughtful design is part of who we are. No matter what, we’ll always hold that defining, independent spirit in our work. For us, that means a pain-free and efficient design and procurement process with an unbeatable price structure. We’ve proud to have worked with nationally recognized and respected developers to handle procurement for their projects. And we’re really good at what we do.
We feel so thankful to have achieved all of these things. But, really, we’re most grateful to work with a team of incredibly tenacious women and a crew of amazing men who have helped turn Banko Design from a dream into a reality. Together these people represent over 120 years of combined experience as designers and interior architects. They’re some of the best of the best out there. They’ve put up time and talent and energy to make this a fantastic place to work. They make it possible to coordinate and collaborate on a level distinct from other firms.
It’s the work of a team that we’re proud to work alongside. But it’s more than that. Banko is a family. We’re happy you’ve taken this journey with us. Thank you for the last five years.
